BBC Radio Scotland

Operating from Glasgow, BBC Radio Scotland first went on air on 17th December 1983, this came two weeks than earlier scheduled. BBC Radio Scotland later becoming a full radio network on 23rd November 1978 after it opted out of the Scottish BBC Radio 4 arrangements.

BBC Radio Scotland Programs

Dominating the radio stations programme is both news and current affairs. However, the station has programming in sports, debates, drama, music and comedy. On weekdays, BBC Radio Scotland do more of news and current affairs with its hourly bulletins.

BBC Radio Scotland also hosts Scotland’s longest running programme; Good Morning Scotland. The popular programme delivers news, music, business, travel and sports from a Scottish angle. There’s also the Morning Call, a phone in programme, and also the Newsdrive. On weekends, there’s also the weekend edition of Good Morning Scotland, Shereen and Business Scotland.

When it comes to music, BBC Radio Scotland airs different genres of music to cater for a wider taste. There are daily music programs such as The Janice Forsyth Show and The Iain Anderson Show. In the area of sport, BBC Radio Scotland focuses on sport news as it concerns Scotland. There’s a dedicated sport show; Sportsound that airs daily and on Saturdays through out the Scottish Football season.

Being a top Scotland radio station. BBC Radio Scotland has hosted the crème de la crème of Scottish presenters both presently and in the past. They include Colin Bell, Ken Brude, Iain Purdon, Jim Traynor and many others. Currently, you’ll hear the voices of Stephen Jardine, Ashley Storrie, Sussie McCabe, Jim Smith, Stuart Cosgrove, Fred MacAulay, Richard Gordon and many others.

With a broadcast area that covers Scotland, the radio broadcast on FM from 92.5 to 94.7 MHz; and on AM frequency via 585 AND 810 kHz. There’s also a freeview channel on 719 in Scotland only while on Freesat at 712.
