About BBC Asian network
The BBC Asian network is a radio station specifically designed for resident in the UK that originally came from South Asia. With a number of original broadcasts that cover South Asian affairs, news and traditional music this network covers all things Bali would, desi music, news documentaries and Asian urban/underground music.
The channel can be found on DAB 12B, Freeview 709, Freesat 709, Sky 0119, Virgin media 912 and a host of online streaming services. This is an extremely popular station that first aired in 1988 as the Asian network. The original network on this airwaves was the radio Leicester show which lasted a little more than a decade. Most of the programming on this network is available in English but there are special programs which are available in Punjabi, Bengali, Guajarati, Urdu, and Miripuri. Most of these stations programs are talk and music and it gains quite a large listenership every year. According to statistics from March of 2010, this station has some of the highest list their budgets at of any UK station currently running.
